Wick is a beautifully animated and very tense Little Nightmares-esque stealth horror platforming adventure where a cute little candle tries to light up a huge cathedral while being hunted by a demonic nun.
May 18, 2018. The number and variety of scares that you will encounter during the Dungeon Nightmares adventure will keep you constantly tense. Sometimes, when you least expect it.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer during the Beta Sign Up, Wick is a stealth horror adventure created by a group of students at Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy. In the game you control a little candle (called Jean Wick) who has been dropped on the floor after the monk that was carrying him succumbed to a deadly plague. You must now complete the dead monk’s mission to light up the cathedral, but you also have to deal with giant insects that sap your wax and a demonic nun who is keen to extinguish your flame.
Taking around 25 minutes to play through, Wick is a beautifully crafted little adventure with an incredibly high level of polish and a very tense atmosphere. The audio and visual design is superb and the nun really instils you with a sense of fear as she stalks you in the oppressive darkness. It’s the little things that really make the game feel special though – such as the pitter-patter of Jean’s little feet, the way the shadows move as your flame passes objects and the extremely your flame dances across the candles as it lights them up. A beautifully crafted nightmare well worth shining a light on. Highly recommended.
